Social Media and Mobile Integration

- cameraphone upload by ShoZu

NOTE: Some technical notes and further thoughts about Shozu and social media integration:

# Shozu sends the media file to your blog but your viewers have to download the file to watch it on their PCs. To get the player above to integrate automatically, I set Shozu to send the video to my blip.tv account which I set to auto-update my two blogs - and voila, the player automatically appears.

# It would be good to see video integration with Facebook, not just still photos. So, again, I am using blip.tv’s Facebook interface for that.

# You can upload to Shozu via email from your phone or your email application. For this test, I used my email application.

I have Flu

I’m afraid I have very bad flu so I won’t be blogging for the next couple of weeks while I lie in bed feeling very sorry for myself.

Please do check back in a couple of weeks when I hope to be restored to vigour.

A Note to my Email Subscribers

You may have received two email updates today - my apologies. Since I switched over to the new delivery system, there’s a short snagging period while I iron out the glitches. Thanks for your patience!

Update on my “Business Blogging in Malaysia” Article

Following my plea for help the other day about businesses that blog in Malaysia, I got some helpful suggestions from a range of different sources. In addition to the business blogging landscape in Malaysia, I have added a section on the political blogging landscape there, in particular in the light of the recent government iniatitive to recruit a blogging squad to counter the claims of political bloggers. I’ve now completed my article for Communication World - which is hopefully going to be useful for its international audience of PR professionals, marketeers and business communicators.

I’d like to say thanks to the following people who generously contributed their suggestions, links and views for the article:

Richard for telling me about Wiley Chin at http://www.ximnet.com.my/thelab

Sharon Bakar at Bibliobibuli

Eric Forbes at the Book Addict’s Guide to Good Books

Kenny Sia at KennySia.com

Francis Ho of Kuching Kayak, who blogs at FH2O: Kuching Kayaking

Kevin Anderson, the Blogs Editor at The Guardian, UK who blogs at Strange Attractor

Asohan Aryaduray, the New Media Editor of The Star, Malaysia

Due to space/ word limitations, it’s not been possible to include in the articlea reference to all the suggestions and links that everyone gave me but I’ve squeezed in as much as I could.

I hope to be able to share the article with you on this blog when it is published in Communication World in a little while.

IABC - Slovenia: Continuing the Conversation

slovenia

You will see the password-protected post that was uploaded a minute or so ago, IABC - Slovenia: Resources. This contains additional resources for IABC members who are currently attending the IABC Leadership Institute conference in Lubljiana and who are participating in the round table discussion on New Media that I am chairing there.

I hope for those who come along to the round table, we will be able to continue the discussion online after the conference via email and/ or comments and further posts here on ZenGuide following up on the issues we discuss. If anyone would like to contribute an article as a guestblogger on ZenGuide, please do contact me via the Contact link at the top of this page - in particular, if you do not yet have a blog or a forum you can easily access to share your views, being a guestblogger is a great way to start engaging in online conversations.

Next week, I’ll be highlighting some of the issues that came out of the round table discussions and inviting all my readers to comment and share your views.
